Taballeh Clinic

Background

Over the years, the Baptist Evangelical Church in Aleppo (BECA) has assessed the physical and spiritual needs of the people in the Aleppo area. The church realized the importance of coming to their aid by beginning a ministry able to provide basic necessities, medical attention, as well as spiritual support and encouragement. With this vision in mind, the members of the BECA felt led to start a clinic.

A mother and daughter are processed before seeing a physicianThey were blessed to have many doctors with varied specialties among the congregation, willing to give of their time and services to the Lord. The Tabbaleh Clinic is in the process of becoming a reality, a center for healing to thousands who are hurting physically and spiritually. A building has been purchased in a very poor area close to the church, and is currently under renovation.

Staff and Activities

During the tedious process of finding a suitable location, building and renovating the Taballeh Clinic, members of the BECA began actively living out their vision by helping poor people unable to afford medical attention. Patients in need of healthcare are referred to private clinics where doctors who are also members of the BECA congregation work. Patients receive free consultations, check-ups, treatment, and medications. In this way, BECA members build relationships with patients and are able to share with them about Jesus Christ and invite them to begin a personal relationship with Him.

In partnership with other Christian organizations in the area, the ministry is also beginning its first medical relief aid support for families who have fled to Damascus since 2003 as a result of the war in Iraq. Food is distributed to over 150 families every other week, patients are given medical treatment, and all are exposed to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The Tabbaleh Clinic is housed in a two-story four-room building, purchased in 2002. Upon completion of the renovation process, the clinic will begin functioning. As the clinic is located in a very destitute and needy area, the clinic expects to serve a large number of patients.

Future Plans and Current Needs

The number of female patients continues to grow at the Taballah Clinic.Plans to fully equip the clinic are underway. Once the renovation of the clinic is finished, the clinic will immediately begin functioning. An OB/GYN and a family practitioner have agreed to run the clinic. Other doctors with different specialties, such as dentists, will be volunteering periodically. Furnishing the clinic with diagnostic equipment needed for ultrasounds, ECGs, etc., is the greatest priority at this time. Obtaining large quantities of medications to be freely distributed to patients is another pressing need. In order to sustain the Tabbaleh Clinic, financial contributions are necessary as well.
