The Good Samaritan Geriatric Nursing Home

Background

Over the years, CMF has come to realize that many of the elderly require round-the-clock care. Because this kind of service is difficult to offer on a home-to-home basis, CMF management decided to look into purchasing a building that could be converted into a home where all the elderly who need 24 hour attention could be cared for. The Lord quickly provided, allowing the geriatric center to open in 2000.

Staff and Activities

This well-equipped facility houses 13 beds and has served a total of over 40 patients since its establishment. Due to the large demand, all beds are constantly occupied; the nursing home receives about 2 requests for admission weekly, but is unfortunately unable to accept them because of its limited capacity. There are currently eleven full-time health care providers who offer constant patient care.

Responding to an overwhelming demand for its services, the geriatric center has added another floor in order to double the number of patients that can be served. The new floor is in the process of being equipped.

Future Plans and Current Needs

The center plans to select and train new care providers who will offer the same quality care that it has established a reputation for. The idea of building a roof garden is being evaluated as a means to offer a pleasant environment where patients can relax. Financial donations are very important to this nursing home as it is in the process of extending its facilities with the goal to accommodate more elderly people.
