Program Details

We at H.O.M.E., believe that now, more than ever before, we are at a critical time for Christians to grow in unity and understanding of the Middle East and how peace can be attained. We should learn how through Christ—the great physician—we can help heal deep cultural wounds rather than inflaming them.

This program is intended to do just that and also to challenge Christians and their churches to consider the ways God may be opening doors for Christians to be peacemakers in this troubled region. We hope you and many from your church will be able to join us on August 30.

Yours in Christ,

Issam Raad, M.D.
President, H.O.M.E.

An overview and a schedule of the program are listed below:

Overview

On Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 7:00pm at the JW Marriott by the Galleria in Houston, TX , Christians from many denominations and backgrounds will gather to explore, to listen and to discuss the Middle East-its diverse peoples, landscapes, ideologies, and religions.

The program will begin with a comical dramatization that will enable us to better understand the diverse peoples that inhabit the Middle East, to be followed by a 40 minute audio-visual presentation by Dr. Nabil Jabbour-who has written and lectured extensively on this topic; the program will conclude with a period of question and answer. By the end of this seminar, we expect attendees to leave with enough information and challenge to return to their homes and churches and to prayerfully consider what role Christ wants them to play in being peacemakers in a region known for its lack of peace.

About the Speaker

Dr. Nabil M. Jabbour is a world-renowned retina surgeon, who currently practices and resides in West Virginia. He was born in Lebanon, where he grew up in a Christian home and began his medical training. In 1983, during the war in Lebanon, Dr. Jabbour and his family moved to the United States, where he completed his medical training at Harvard University.

Dr. Jabbour has a thorough bicultural understanding of the current, historic, and biblical events in the Middle East, and has written and lectured extensively on this subject. From negotiating hostage situations in Lebanon to helping establish Christian medical clinics throughout the Middle East, Dr. Jabbour has been a long-time peacemaker in the region.

Most importantly, he has such a heart for showing Muslims and Arabs in the Middle East the loving face of the Great Physician, and sharing with churches in North America the vital role that they play in bringing peace to the Middle East. Because of this passion, he helped to establish Health Outreach to the Middle East in 1990; currently, he serves as H.O.M.E.'s vice-president.

We hope that you will be able to join us for what is sure to be another wonderful presentation by Dr. Nabil Jabbour.

Here's what Christian leaders are saying about
"Peace in the Middle East: How should Christians respond?"!

"'Peace in the Middle East: How should Christians respond?' is your opportunity to become both informed and involved in God's ongoing process of bringing about His healing, wholeness and peace in the Middle East... Dr. Nabil Jabbour brings very strong qualifications and a proven track record of authentic and effective communication of God's healing love--physical, spiritual and emotional--through years of leading teams of colleagues who give medical and spiritual care in 'the lands of their roots'. Don't miss this event!"

Ev Bruckner, M.D.
Chairman, Medical Education International (MEI)
Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA)

"In a post 9-11 world, people are in need of healing. 'Peace in the Middle East: How should Christians respond?' will help your church embark on extending the healing touch of Christ. I encourage all church leaders to attend this seminar."

Fouad El Issa
President, The Crescent Project
Sharing the Hope with Muslims

If Dr. Nabil Jabbour has something to say on the Middle East situation, I want to hear it! His whole life has been spent learning to bridge between Arab and Americans cultures; Islamic and Christian worldviews; and Jewish and Palestinian peoples.
